Hi guys,

Thought there would be some previous posts about this CZ model (and variants), but forum searches only turned up TN 75 tractor topics!

Anyway, wife had her Beretta 92FS 9mm stolen, so we went to replace it today and she REALLY liked the ergonomics of the CZ. I had always thought of CZ as slightly inferior to Beretta, but the CZ seemed very well-made. Sales guy at LGS said it is now the standard-issue for NATO, and that the design and operational history over a long period have proven to be very durable. She can get by fine with the 14+1 capacity vs the larger and heavier 92FS w/17+1 or even the slightly smaller Beretta 92 compact with 13+1.

I am still in confused mode regarding the 75D, 75D PCR, 75D PO1, 75BD variants. Most comments I have seen so far about the variants, folks seem to like the PCR the best. She does NOT have any particular need for a rail, but does like having a de-cocker like the old 92FS.

Opinions from actual users?

Hiya,

The CZ-75 is one of the worlds finest service and duty pistols. It compares to directly to the Colt 1911-A1 and the Browning High Power for reliability and accuracy. They are also made under license by the Italian firm Tanfoglio and the US distributor is EAA Arms. They call their CZ-75 line "Witness" They are not as refined cosmetically however the components are just as good.

I have had several standard frame size CZ's over the years, mostly when Interarms was the importer from Česká Zbrojovka. I currently have an EAA Witness Silver team in 9mm, and 9x21 I picked up in '91 when I was active in IPSC, The Steel Challenge and the Masters. It's a safe queen now as the class it competed in is no longer around so if anyone is looking....

In 9mm they are an easy shooter, the steel frame and low reciprocating slide weight makes for a quick cycling time and low recoil. Out of the box the trigger and sights are good for a duty/carry pistol.

Well the CZ75, P226, Hi-Power and Beretta 92 are all on my 9mm wishlist (don't have a 9mm), and they all have a nearly "bulletproof" reputation for dependability & accuracy, so from that standpoint... as you mentioned, the CZ, H&K, & Beretta have such a huge number of options to sort through, so where to start... you can pull 20 options on three guns!

I have friends who worked on Border who transitioned to the HK226 and say IT is hands down the best they've had, but I am not a polymer fan & theirs are.

If you are set on decocker, that'd narrow things down right off the bat. If you are sure of any other options for finish, controls, capacity, size, price point, it can drop the starting number.

I wish I could offer experience with the weapons... but I am only experienced with coveting them.

I am sold on stainless, so that helps narrow things considerably (usually).

Buds Gun Shop has a pretty good search function and huge variety and usually has a number of comments to refer to... usually pretty good price too.
