There is probably a snap ring hiding in that space. Compress the tab ends together and use the hydraulic pressure to push out the end of the cylinder. Do not use air pressure! Air will shoot the part across the room, hydraulic just pushes it out.
Norm, I looked, and I don't see a snap ring. I do see a ring in there that looks like it comes to a point. Not sure but it looks the the ring laps over it self. But not sure how to grab it and pull it out not damaging it.
