Cutting Fork in half?

/ Cutting Fork in half? #21
Sandman, what are the slipsheet forks used for? Never seen them before, looks like a box factory in the background. We have a box factory here I have bought from on occasion so I will ask them as well.

Thanks guys.

Slipsheets.... Hmmmm.
A slipsheet is a thin piece of tough plastic that basically is laid on a pallet, and the freight is stacked on top of it, as if it weren't there. The slipsheet machine in the picture has a clamp on the bottom of that part that extends outward, and it grabs the sheet and the hydraulics behind that flat area pull the sheet backwards, and onto the slipsheet forks. The freight is no longer on a pallet, and is loaded onto a truck, thereby saving the excess weight of the wooden pallets (and the cost!!). When the freight arrives at it's destination, the unloader simply pulls the slipsheet onto his forks, right off the floor of the trailer, by clamping the sheet with the flat area extended, and then retracting that flat area with the hydraulics.
With a good operator, it usually works extremely well, but it is a pain to get the knack of it in a hurry.
Clear as mud?
