After many hours of pondering how to create a cutting edge for my blade or to create skids that will allow for little to no damage of my drive way I have decided on a rubber edge solution.
Looking back at my contacts and referencing some airport snow blade solutions from a friend of mine at Oshkosh I started searching and found a company called Rubber Cal that sells many different rubber products ranging from super think to custom thin and in all sizes shapes etc...
First thing was to remove the bolts that held the cutting edge on the blade off and to measure the rubber that i ordered. I ordered enough so that I could have 4 cutting edges that would last many years.
While cutting things got crazy because all the bolts were rusted on. I decided to switch to a galvanized bolt for the winter and put the high tensile bolts (OEM) on in the spring when i switch it back to the normal cutting edge. After getting the blad off I lined it up in the middle and then marked and drilled holes in the rubber. The rubber is heavy and dense.
After lining things up it looks great. The peice of rubber is 6"x1"x48"
