First let me say I'm new here and that it seems like this place is on of the good boards in the world of the internet..
Here's my deal. I have a 2007 Tank with 75 hrs on it and already, have had to replace 3 belts."main power belts" and one out put shaft clutch.. Had to put a new needle in carb and replace fuel pump.. Fuel was leaking down into cylinders"needle" motor was cutting out once unit got warmed up "pump". Have gone threw 2 sets of blades. Mowing 3 acres of good yard grass..
Is it just my bad luck or is there something I don't know about these Tanks.. First time buyer of Cub Cadets.. Thanks

A Tank zero turn mower? Which engine and deck size do you have? 9 times out of 10, belt failures are due to something out of adjustment or a component failure. Carb issues are hit/miss with any engine. I think overall Cub Tanks are spec'd out pretty well with very heavy-duty components. Commercial grade engines, heavy duty pump and wheel motor drive system, fab'd decks, etc. I know on my new Z-Force (44" fab'd deck), the deck bounced around on the ground horribly with the rear roller set as low as it was from the factory. I had to remove and raise it. A deck left to bounce heavily on the ground can lead to belt failures.

07 Tank here with close to 200 hours never replaced the belt until last week and that was only because I figured it would break at some point that was inconvienient to me. The only problem I've had is when the safety switch for the brake or seat (don't remember which one is was) and I had to take it in because we couldn't figure it out.

I might suggest you post your question in the lawn and garden forum vs the compact utility tractor forum. I know I rarely visit the L&G forum since I have a CUT and I'm sure there are a ton of folks that are on the L&G forum that don't own a CUT and, therefore, probably never visit this forum. Not trying to scare you away, just thinking you might get more responses maybe.

I have an M72 Tank with a little over 300 hours on it. I have replaced my mower deck belt every year due to mowing in very heavy grass.
I really think that the Tank is the best deal in Zero turn mowers out there. I have had no problems with it and really enjoy mowing.

I have the sister to the Cub TANK, Its a Lesco Z two commercial 25hp kawasaki 60" fab deck bought in 2004-5 Zero problems other than blade replacement. Factory blades didn't last long but the outter most blade (discharge chute) gets more abrasion because all debris has to go past this blade. So to gain another season (maybe )depending on the amount of grass you mow you can rotate blade positions...
Another thing you can do is purchase your blades from Agri-supply , Their Blades are American made and are very stout and I can atest to them lasting for several seasons also you can get the gator blades from them for a couple bucks more and are very reasonable...

Belt life, look for idlers that are filled with cut grass not being able to move there full movement. Also look to see if any are rusted and replace or clean!

Carb issues, be sure you are using clean fuel and the right filter!!!! The cheaper filters on fuel lines are letting to large of particules pass cloggin the carb!!!

Blade life, if notched or bent raise the deck or remove the stone. Some times we jsut need to put the gauge wheels in the proper location.

The Cadet tanks are a great buy and well built.

One of my best friends bought one based the spiffy name "tank" about 3 years ago. It's been nothing short of a nightmare. He figures he's spent almost as much on repairs as he paid for it already. I think he sold it to a local scrapper for $300 or so this spring and bought a better mower. Sorry for the bad news on the machine, but I've helped him work on the piece of junk and have heard many similar stories. Good luck to you.
