Cub Cadet RZT 50 won't start

When I try to start my cub cadet RZT 50, the motor turns but doesn't 'catch'. I found a fuse that was blown and replaced it to no avail. It still tries to start when I turn the key but isn't able to catch. Any suggestions?

OK.. start from the edge - dblechk starting procedure per owners manual. If all OK there, remove carb air cleaner, and while assistant is canking engine to start, spray cuppla shots of RATTLECAN CARB CLEANER directly into carb throat. If engine pops or tries to start, you have a fuel delivery problem. If not, an ignition or engine mechanical problem.
Fuel delivery - remover fuel line at carb. remove/ground plug wires. crank engine while catching pumped fuel into catch basin. look for good fuel flow. If not, replace lines/pump/filter/screen until good flow achieved. If still no start, pull/clean/rebuild carb (install new rebuild kit and all new gaskets) .
if still trouble, post back with more detail.

I replaced the spark plugs but the assistant at the store gave me spark plugs that were off by one letter (the first 3 letters are BPR and they only had BR). The only difference was that the end was open, while on my old ones the ends were closed. Does that matter?

It's either a fuel problem or a spark problem. Make sure you are getting fuel. The fuel filter should also be checked and is easy to get to and replace. I replace mine on a yearly basis.

OP - get the right plugs in the engine and then do the start test previously posted. One thing at a time.

I have the same unit. I had a similar no start situation. Ended up pulling the fuel pump off (ref #16 page26) and cleaning the back off. There was a small screen that was loaded with debris. That took care of the problem but a month or two later it reappeared. I ended up buying a new fuel pump and that solved it.
