Cub Cadet LTX1050VT Keeps Throwing Drive Belt

Started it up and noticed the mower wouldn't move. Belt had come off the trans pulley and shredded the plastic fan.

I put the belt back on, but as soon as I released the brake, it made an awful rattling noise, and the belt jumped off again.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Some people are saying idler pulley. I thought maybe the trans gave up the ghost, but I can still spin the pulley so maybe it isn't seized?

Thanks for any help. Trying to get the lawn done once more before winter.

Did you get it on right? Is the belt streched? Is one pully or bearing bad? Theres many things it could be.

Welcome to TBN. One would assume that a new belt should be installed rather than just put back on if it got into the fan. If the pulleys look good, i'd almost bet that a blade or two on the fan is mushed down, rolling the belt off and sounding like a card in the spokes. It sometimes happens too that the splines in the driven pulley become worn, pulley comes loose.

Check the tensioner and other mechanical items. If everything is good and tight, put a new belt on.

The belt on my zero turn kept coming off last year. Turned out it must have just been stretched because I put a new belt on after checking things over and haven’t had a problem since.

If bearings/shafts/pulleys are all ok... Belt is compromised and only replacing it will solve issue....

These mowers are bad about shredding the fan when the belt comes off. Did you use the diagram to put the belt back on. Could have missed a pulley.
But the drive belt is a breeze compared to the deck belt.
