Hi -
I'm new here. I have a problem I can't solve. My Cub Cadet XT2 has a Kohler KT735 engine. It will crank but not run. If I disconnected one of the 2 coils it would run poorly but it would run Found I had a bad coil so I replaced both coils BUT the problem persists. With both coils plugged in it will crank but not run. If I disconnect 1 or both coils it will run poorly. Not sure what is causing the coils to kill the engine. Does anyone have any ideas?
It has a push button start

Welcome to TBN. I assume that it is a coil with just the 1 kill terminal? The rest of the spec /history may be helpful. By disconnecting coils, are you referring to the kill terminal? The kill terminal facing upward? Standard ignition, the engine will run on one cylinder. Pull the kill harness off it it is a single terminal coil to do a test run. Verify that you have spark on each plug. If you do and don't suspect something like water in the fuel, or diesel instead of fuel- the next thing I would do is pull the flywheel and check the key.

Thank you for your insight. I went back to the dealer on Friday. I was going to buy the ignition switch thinking that may be the cause then I found out how expensive it is ignition module $110. I did
talk with the service tech and he never heard of this before BUT I asked about how long the warranty is and found out it's still under warranty so I told them to pick it up and fix it.

It has a push button start

Interestingly enough, I just fixed a problem like that on my old Cub 1864 (V-Twin Kohler). Wasn't making any sense that with both cylinders starting it might start and run rough, on just the left cylinder it would start perfect and run smooth. Took off valve cover, ick, Bent Rod. Replaced rod (6 bucks), torqued both sides to spec. Starts and runs like new. Go figure.

this sounds like an ignition module problem. that's all that's left of the ignition parts.(besides the sensors)

Actually I went to the dealer to buy the "ignition switch" thinking it would be cheap enough to just try. When they told me it was an "ignition module" that costs $110 I finally asked what kind of warranty do I have and found it was still under warranty so I will have them figure it out
I also kind of think it's the ignition. Not sure I can explain this but I think it's stuck in the start position if that makes sense. It has a push button start which I don't like.
