Cub Cadet hydro fluid

I have a new 3235 Cadet. Was wondering if the hydro fluid is 20w50 oil or a special blend. Cheapest I have found is 7.00 a quart on the internet. Most places are 9.00 a quart. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I have a 3204 and its a synethic blend oil. I really dont think there is any likely subsitute nor would I want to jepordize
experimenting and voiding the warranty. You actually dont need that much when changing the filter when servicing because you dont change the actual oil, just the filter and what leaks out ( 1 qt)...you could shop on the net for a better price, but stick with Cubs part number & Brand IMO...

My manual said it's important to drain tranny also. At 7.00 to 9.00 a quart and 6 quarts, gets expensive. The Cub Tank uses 20w50 oil in their hydro system, that's why I asked.

I should have been clearer on my post regarding the first 5 & 50 hr service, look at the maintence chart it only suggests replacing the filter(100hr), and for the full service oil fluid change at the 150hr range. I double checked with my dealer and he said the first service for the tranny is changing the filter only (replace fluid that leaks out) , and for the 100 hour mark change the fluid completely. You machine sounds brand new so for now it would be just the filter. I did my tranny(filter) at 25 hours and my regular oil & filter at 5hr and 40 hrs. I wont change my tranny fluid completely unitl at least 100hrs. I'm a maintence freak with my machines /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Nice machine by the way, how do you like it? are you using it for snow removal?

Try using Hy-Tran. You get it from any Case-IH tractor dealer. It is the same oil as the Cub Cadet part number but a lot cheaper - about $22 per 2.5 gallon container.

Hy-Tran is what I use. I have also used John Deere Hy-Gard.

Hey guys!!!
Hy train is not what his or my machine uses !!! Its a Synthetic blend and so far its only available by Cub through dealers....6 quarts is what it takes for the 3204 & 3235....its also at Lowes by the quart for Cub...I know of no where else where you can get it...this post is so old I'm sure he figured it out already

Its definately not the same fluid that goes into my JD 4100 !!
