I have a 2206 cub w/ Koehler 20 hp, started up just fine the last 3 days, tried to start today, took a little bit of time turned off key, tried 2nd time nothing happened, didn't turn over yes brake pressed, tried 3rd time and it started, so went and cut grass for 1/2 hr. when I shut off pto mower deck the tractor died and that's not normal. Tried to restart and no turnover not even clicking, checked battery OK chkd fuses ok, seat switch has been jumped for years. So what is the next step? I see we have brake switch, a safety switch some ware in line under tractor and ignition key switch w/ lights position, What is the most likely to go first, I see nothings cheap and elect. parts aren't easy to return and not to easy to find locally, contacts on starter all clean. So if any suggestions please let me know Thanks , Tdraym

Hmmm, for it to shut off when the PTO switch was pressed, one would think something in the safety line. That could be the PTO switch itself. The seat switch is the other obvious circuit, so check your jumper job. If the fuse is good, and the ignition was grounded- that would be my best guess from here. With any of this, the connectors behind the PTO and ignition switch should be suspect.

If your mower has any of those small square relay boxes those can cause issues also. had a mower in the shop that would only start with the deck engaged. Bad relay.

I tried to replace PTO switch and still had problem, so when I tried to find wiring schematic from many different websites and couldn't find for 2206 or long model #, I seen one for #2185 and used to see starter switch contacts for run and start, so I could test switch and circuit after making sure starter and sol. were still good. So in the process the low oil light came on and relay would click, so found contact to oil warning light not looking bad or broke, but bad connection, crimped it better and everything worked again, looked at schematic for #2185 and found all lights circuits travel thru starter switch, So I only wasted $38. on PTO switch, But want to thank both of you for your reply's Thanks, Oh BTW Cub cadet dealer couldn't even find schematic for this tractor but did sell me PTO switch telling me that was my problem, That's why I Thank you guys for help . OK I'll stop bitching
Tomplum and RANDYT Thanks again and have a good day, Tdraym
