Yesterday at my local Home Depot I saw a Cub Cadet model 1046 Zero Turn mower with a Kohler 20hp on sale for $1,500.00. I was offered an additional 10% off because I am previous military bring it down to $1,350.00. The mower has 1 hours on it and is being sold as a reconditioned mower. It was manufactored in 2/2007. The salesman told me it had a transmission problem and they replace the transmission. It would come with a 90 store warranty and he would throw in an extended warranty till January of 2010. I was told the machine listed for over $3,000.00.

Is this a good deal? Do these machines have any know problems? Would you buy it?

I have about 3/4 of an acre I would mow with this mower the rest of my property I maintain with my Mahindra 3325 and finishing mower.

I think you may have your model numbers mixed up.

I have the 1046 and it is not a zero turn and it has a 23 hp Kohler engine. If this is what you are looking at it lists for about $1900 new. I have had mine for 3 seasons and it has 110 hours on it and I am very happy with it.

It's a Big Box Store tractor .
It's a Cub Cadet entry level low end product.
Nothing wrong with CC if you stick to their higher level products.

Not to be disrespectful, but I am tired of people on here putting down the 1000 series tractors. I know it`s not built quite as heavy as the 2000 series are,But it is a **** good unit!,and it beats the **** out of those stupid Craftsman`s!. And other units like Poulan, Troybuilt, and all of those other crappy things out their. Also,I compared to an equivalent J.D tractor, and C.C is built just as well.I use my 1045 for grass cutting,Snow Plowing, pulling a lawn sweeper all for hours at a time (especially this time of year, getting rid of leaves) So please, stop putting down the 1000 series tractor. It`s not your 2500 tractor, but works very well for what I use it for.(btw) I have also used it to remove a downed tree limb from my property (not a light one either) and performed very well. Honestly,I would really like to find a nice 70`s Wheel Horse, that would put most of the C.C.`s on here to shame, including the 2500 series.

It is a zero turn I know because I drove it and I spun it around on a dime and gave me nickel in change. It is a 2007 model. I know the 2008 model is a i1046. But on the side of the hood cover it just says 1046.

With the 20 HP Kohler and zero turn it is an i1046, they did list around $3k. I have read of a few others here on TBN who have got these from HD at a deeply discounted price, I don't think they have been the hottest sellers due to their high list price and individual stores resell their returned units as being refurbished- basically meaning repaired, whatever initial problem they had was corrected at a dealer. I wouldn't pay $3k for one of those, but I'd more than likely buy it for $1350.00 and use it for the light stuff, it will probably do quite well with a 3/4 acre of work.

+1 to that. An i1046 for $1350, with an extended warranty is an excellent deal.
