OK, my 1250 tractor died just now while mowing. It has fuel in the tank, tried starting fluid just to be sure and still nothing. So I put an inline spark tester and no light when cranking. 12 volt line to the coil read about 12.4 so seems OK there. Disconnected the coil and ran the multimeter test. ~8K ohms from hi-tension lead to the + or - post, but infinite resistance (by my electronic meter) between the negative and positive coil posts. I assume that my coil is bad as it should be somewhere under 2 ohms resistance there.
However, I replaced this coil last year with an oil filled NAPA coil as recommended on this board. I cannot find that interchange now. So, two questions:
(1) What are the coil interchanges on Kohler 12hp (K301?) engines on Cub Cadets
(2) what might burn it out so quick?
Any help is appreciated. It is dead at the bottom of the hill until I get a part.
