I have tried a slightly smaller HST unit that was a little under powedered, and also spent about an hour in the seat of an L3240 with a 514 loader. It was similar in hp and size to the 335 I'm working on buying. The 514 loader stalled out at half height with a heaped 66" bucket more than once though; I could hear the relief valve lifting. The Kubota HST+ was really nice to operate with a loader. It probably tipped me over the edge toward an HST. The Bobcat dealer has offered me what I think is an unbeatable deal on a ct335 that he has on his lot presently without a loader. In the last couple of days I've gotten prices over 1000 higher from two other dealers. I think he wants to move this one. It would probably cloud things up if I asked him to install the loader and load the tires so I could give the whole package a try for a day without completing the deal. The guy does rent equipment, but he does not have a similar rental unit available. Hopefully I will be able to compare performance for myself in the near future. If everything goes according to schedule we should be completing the deal before the end of the month.

The 514 is the smaller loader avaliable for the 3240. It is only rated @ 1021 lbs of lift @ 500mm forward of the pin. The 724 loader for that tractor si a better match. it will lift about 400lbs more. 1415 @ 500mm.

The bobcat is right up there too and I'd say a pretty close comparison to a 3240 W/ 724 loader, The bobcat is about 300lbs heavier and can lift 1300lbs @ 500mm.

Looks like the new tractor will be delivered by Wednesday. The dealer is just waiting on a couple of accessories.

Yeah, drawbar pull capacity is something to consider if you're planning on skidding out logs, or re-siting boulders. (I did mention at one point that I rebuild stone walls?)

The tractor should be able to drag loads that you would never be able to lift or budge with the FEL or BH.

The maximum load, of course, would be up to the point where the tractor would rip the drawbar off trying to pull it. (That assumes 100% traction.)

Wow this is a little blast from the past for me. It was my first thread.

So far the the CT335 hasn't let me down. It likes alot of weight on the rear end to perform, but so far it has moved everything I have put it up against. I won't be trying it with the plow until I turn the garden under in the fall.

The HST has been a good decision for me. I'd buy this tractor again if I had it to do over.
