Crossing Canadian border

Not purposely replying to Bird's post, but his was the last in line /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We went to Canada a month after 9/11. My niece was graduating from Grade 12. My Brother-in-Law has dual citizenship and he travels here to the US for his job quite a bit. We called to ask what paperwork we should carry with us when we crossed over. We took birth certificates at his suggestion. The Canadian official was real nice and even suggested we stop at the duty free shops before we came back across. On our trip back home, we were detained at the US border BECAUSE we had birth certificates with us. They said "Why would you travel with those?? No one does." We just did it to be safe and got detained for a long time. But then they also obligingly pointed out my wifes drivers license had been expired for 5 months as well /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ha! Got a better one than that! One time my wife and I were coming back from Canada. At US customs, I handed the guy our passports. He was all squirreled up looking under and around my truck with remote cameras. He was having such a good time knowing that he was going to find something, that after he asked if we were married, the next question was "how do you know each other?" Luckily the wheels turned faster than my mouth for a change. I know I gave him quite a funny look and simply replied, we're married! I do respect the Border Patrol and all that, and also realize this guy probably never worked for NASA, but comeon!! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
