cross reference for a stabilizer cylinder

The stabilizer cylinder on my JD 7 backhoe wont retract all the way. It looks as though the rod is bent. If it needs to be replaced, is their a cheaper replacement than the $450.00 cylinder from JD?
How do you cross reference the part at say Surplus Center?

Look for a cyl with the same stroke and shaft size or close enough.

Measure the pin holes and use that dimension for the length overall retracted.
