How does a farmer plant a "crop" in a 10-20 acre field that will lessen the weeds competing with the "Crop"? I've seen it done ... just dont' know how to do it ? Any help ?

Depends on the type of crop? A no-till drill will do the trick for grass. legumes and small grains. Ken Sweet

And they can use seed varieties that are herbicide resistant, so that they can spray a herbicide after the crop has emerged; e.g., Round-up Ready soybeans.

I've seen the no-till drills but, I don't know how they they function or methods/procedures for use of them... ? As for The "Crop" maybe broccoli,Brussels sprouts/cauliflower or The misses is wishing for carnations/flowers of sorts ?

Are there chemicals that can be applied either in the fall or spring that would kill the weed seed all ready in the ground kinda "Pre prep" the soil for seeding?
Are there herbicide resistant... broccoli,Brussels sprouts/cauliflower or carnations/flowers.. sounds to good to be true ?

The natural way would be to plant buckwheat. Cleans up the soil and gets rid of the weeds. Trac

ak9. The drill won't work for those crops. I personally, had rather keep the weeds under control by cultivation in my direct food suppies. I suppose, mulch of various sorts wiould also keep the weeds under control. I don't like the chemicals around my garden or truck patch. Ken Sweet
