Crescent socket wrenches

I just bought a 18-pc socket wrench set that says it can be used for SAE and Metric. Thought it would be handy because I am always dragging around the wrong sleeve of sockets.

Anyone else have a review of these tools?

Tom are you sure it doesn't say it can't be used for SAE or Metric. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I have never heard of a set that can be used one way or the other. Have you had a chance to use them yet and if so do the acually work without rounding the flats on bolts and nuts?

Several years ago I bought a set of sockets called Metrinch that worked both on metric and SAE bolt sizes. My overall opinion of the set was favorable. The set seemed to be well made, not Craftsman or Snap-on, but good enough for general use. Yes it was nice to only carry one box of sockets. Some else thought so too because I was relieved of the set on a job some time ago. Haven't been able to find a set like them since.

Nice Web Page there Buckeye. I was raised a Buckeye.

I have heard many Buckeye jokes since moving here to the Hoosier State years ago. I have defended the Buckeye State honorably. And, OS sure has kicked butt over here.

Nope have not tried them. That's why I asked the question.

Guess I will skin some knuckles and report back.

I've used those sets and they work pretty well. Basically what they do is include some of those odd 32nd sizes to cover those metrics that are not close enough to standard ones and the "points" are shaped funny to help grip better.
