You have a dealer in Santa Fe,Texas. Crate dealers are becoming a thing of the past, the Tier IV EPA can give a self importer alot of grief, best bet is to buy a assemblied tractor from a local dealer with a warranty. These tractors need to be assemblied and ADJUSTED properly,if you don't do all the adjustments, fluid flushs you are just asking for trouble.

If you need the dealers name it's Discount Tractor Sales or we are about a 1-1/2 drive from Santa Fe in Bellville,Texas (we do not sell crated tractors)

Get a assembled unit! Really, people putting these things together themselves gave them a bad name. In reality you will not save much doing it yourself by the time you order broken or missing parts, replace all the fluids and filters, ect.

This has been beat to death here but the end result is the same. You will not save much, maybe 5% doing it yourself if your lucky.

Hi Chris,

I don't know what is going on now, but when I bought my crated Jinma I saved around $8,000 on the total price I would have had to pay a dealer in Canada - that was in 2007. Since then a Chinese tractor dealer has opened up 50 miles away from me. His 50hp tractors with cab (heat but no air) and Frey FEL price out at around $28,000. Being retired, money is of concern for me and $8,000 is not chump change.

Tractors in Canada are darn expensive and if one has to be careful with money, a Chinese tractor is the way to go. Crated used to be good but now, who knows - a lot depends on who you buy through.

Just thought I would mention the above.

I wish I was making $ 8,000.00 a tractor or could,China will sell you a tractor with a engine that does not meet the current EPA right now, there is no recourse to them because they have your money. There is a dealer in the USA right now that has 16-tractors that will be destroyed or he will have to pay shippping back to China because of non-conforming engines, all I'm saying is "Beware" it's not like it used to be.As a dealer we have to make money on the sale but we also service the tractor, flush and drain the fluids, adjust the clutch, valves, ect. Not that the original poster cannot do the same but what is the cost to do it ?We also warranty the tractors for 1-year parts and labor.

That is my brother in law in Santa Fe and he will take good care of you, plus if you are going to get a loader he sells the Ansung just like us,high quality Korean loaders with quick attach bucket

Hi Tom,

Here is what I paid
Jinma 554 - $9,800 US
ZL-60 FEL - $3,400 US
Jinma Snowblower - not very good at all $1300 US

On that total I paid only $900 tax and to have the crates delivered 450 miles cost me another $900.

At my time of purchase, the dollar was pretty close (Canadian v. US)

Total outlay for me was $16,300 including all taxes and freight.

I realize prices have changed a bit, but I think it was a pretty good deal for me. I did all the fluid changes, greasing adjustments etc. I have had a few electrical problems and a couple of steering problems (self inflicted by me) - otherwise I am very happy with the performance and value. I don't know what the cost would have been at that time, in Texas?

Again, this was at the end of 2007, so maybe my prices weren't as good as I figured. Here in Canada and up north as well, you can add at least 35% onto what you guys charge down in Texas - maybe more.

All in all I am happy with my lot.
Had I been able to buy the same for what you guys in the states pay, it probably would have been a different story. However, for me it worked out OK.
Not everyone else is as lucky I know.

Back in 2003 when I got my tractor a Jinma 284 in a crate was $5000 give or take. A Koyker 160 Loader drop shipped was $3000 give or take. A 5' King Kutter Finish Mower was $1000 give or take.

I found a local dealer, 45 minutes away, with the tractors in stock with the FEL and mower out the door for $9500. I will admit the setup was not top notch and I did re changed the fluids at 200 hours but I just re checked my clutch last fall at 750 hours. The tractor has been flawless other than the starter that I had to replace and the thermostat. It gets worked hard about 125hrs per year.

So all said and done I would have save $500 doing the crate route. Yes, $500 means a lot to me also, but I am glad I went the route I did.

I bought a crate tractor from Sonic Tractor Sales in Miami, since there are no dealers in my area (Virgin Islands). The big savings for me was on the shipping, as it only cost $150 to get the tractor, loader, bush hog and box blade from the dealer to my freight forwarder nearby. The ocean freight was less than a grand for all that, but if I'd shipped a fully assembled tractor with loader plus the other two implements the shipping would have been more than double that due to the increase in cubic footage for the assembled units. It only took me a couple days to put it all together and change out the fluids, set the clutch and valves, etc. I figure I saved about two grand for two days work - that's better than my customary shop rate so I'm happy. Another factor is warranty work - not going to happen down here, of course. Since I'm on my own for repairs anyway, I might as well not pay a dealer for a warranty I can't use. Sonic Tractor id reimburse me for a DOA battery without hesitation, so I'm happy with them.

I'm glad I wen the crate route since it gave me the opportunity to learn about the machine I'm going to be responsible for keeping running and repaired. I wouldn't recommend it for everyone, but it worked well for me.

That said, if I was in Texas and wanted a tractor I'd just give Tommy a call and have him deliver one. He and Ronald are two of the most honorable dealers I've ever dealt with and either one would be my first choice if they were down here.
