Hi Guys,
My Satoh 650g has possibly the worse designed crank to pump coupler ever. It is 2 pieces of metal stock with a keyway and then 4 bolts to hold each half together. The crank adapter and pump both have a "double D" shaft. Problem with it is that the end that holds the pump shaft only grabs just over a 1/4" plus the bolts are not right down the end due to the pump body. So less than great clamping, right where you need it.
So what happens is it gets chewed out and then hydraulics no worky
I have seen many owners with this same problem and the one I saw who fixed it jerry rigged a love-joy style coupler. He was just using the set screw to bite into the flat. No idea how long that would last. And obviously his pump shaft was not rounded.
My pump shaft has rounded itself so I need a new pump. I don't want a replacement pump as they are only 4.1 gal/min. I also want to add power steering with an orbitrol valve so this curse hopefully turns into a blessing(with your help).
I don't have room for a belt driven pump.
OEM pump
Kayaba-Dowty GP1
4.1 gal/min
Open center
pressure relief factory set spec 1706 psi.
Inlet runs down the left side, outlet on the right as you're sitting in the seat.
Tractor is 25hp gas 2wd.
I have a National #16 FEL and a Woods box blade on the 3 pt.
The 3 bolt crank adapter is 5/16 or 8mm across the flats and a hair under 1/2" or 12mm across the D.
I have room to move the new pump forward for more room for a coupler. I figured I can cut the supply and return lines and use fittings/hose or new pipe for the movement, if required.
Can someone please point me in the direction of what specs I need to be looking at? Also what coupler?
Thanks, will upload photos.
