I have a 1997 craftsman chainsaw model 358 352680 18'' bar 2.6ci am in the process of replacing dry rotted fuel lines, there are 2 lines going into the tank one large and one small the large line comes from the primer button and the small line from the carb, my question is which line does the filter go on, the filter was just laying in the tank not connected when I started my project, the primer button has the large line which gos to the tank and a small line which gos to the carb and the carb has two small lines one to the primer button and the other to the tank, I'm guessing that the small line from the carb to the tank is the line the filter attaches to but am just not sure, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance, Ken.

What size barb is on the filter, that should tell you which line it goes too.
Not really sure, it will go on the small line with real good effort but also fits on the large line fairly tight, I'm leaning toward the small line because that line goes from the tank to the carb and just seems to make more sense whereas the large line goes from the tank to the priming bulb and then a small line from the bulb to the carb, I'm thinking the primer bulb is just to remove air for initial startup and then once the saw is running the carb bypasses the bulb and draws directly from the tank, I got the saw running without the fuel and air filters installed, waiting for new parts to come.

Small line .080x.140 line is filter to carb line. then the larger 3/32x3/16 line is from carb to primer and from primer back to tank.
