Cracked rear axle housing on Deere 4300

Hello, while installing the third scv kit and removing the rear wheels I found that the bolts that held the retainer on the rear axle housing had pulled away, cracking a chunk out of the housing. Since the housing is all one piece I assume the only fix is to replace the whole housing. Anyone have any experience with this type of issue? I bought the tractor used about a year ago. I think it's a 2001 model and So idk how long the housings have been in this condition. I figured I'd get some advice before shelling out about 2 grand in parts. Thanks

I also have a 4300, if/when this happenens to me i would be talking to a machine shop.

would a machine shop be able to weld a piece in there that would be strong enough to hold the bolt? I'm sure that would be cheaper than buying a whole new housing. thanks
