Coupler question

Maybe this is a stupid question, but this is my first exposure to tractors and heavy equipment...

My loader's quick couplers seem to be leaking. It looks like it is coming from inside the coupler like it's not joined fully rather than bad hose to coupler connection. It seems to have been doing this since I bought it (27hrs on it now). I've actually had it at the dealer for another problem and told them about the leaking but it seems it wasn't fixed. Could I have gotten it with some dirt or something in the coupler and it just needs to be wiped and cleaned out?

I feel like I ought to just take it apart and look but I thought I'd ask because I'm not going to be around the tractor for a few more days still.

I doubt it is dirt inside. The o ring seal may be bad on it. Be careful disconnecting as you have to get neutral pressure on it and that is not always easy to do. If you elect to do that, the best way I have found to neutral pressure is to cycle the valve several times in all directions with the engine off, thereby letting the FEL settle in. There will sometimes be some slight leakage at these couplings that is normal as evidenced by dust adhering to them but there should not be steady or intermitent drips.

o-rings ought to be user replaceable... Hopefully I can get my dealer to give me a handful.

I always try to neutralize pressure on my loader after I park it. Don't want anyone to accidentally get hurt and maybe it'll save some life on the hydraulic system and seals.

Yeah, this is definitely an regular to intermittent drip. Was almost a steady leak with no pressure on the system (must have been some but i had already settled the loader and bucket)

I "thought" I had a problem like that with my hyd couplings after I brought it home. Called the dealer. They drove from Corsicana, TX to Hico, TX and I found out I was somewhat less educated on the subject than I had previously believed :laughing:

Sublifer, it seems odd that they would all be leaking or did I misinterpret your post? When my BX2200 loader was brand new, I had to replace one of the male fittings as it had a very slow leak when the loader was disconnected. In my case it was a very easy fix to replace the fitting. My dealer (great guy) gave me two new fittings in case it ever happened again. If you haven't already, you may want to try to determine which are the offending fitting(s) and depending on your comfort level see if anything can be snugged up. I also had a small leak on my LS soon after the dealer removed/reinstalled my loader. All I had to do in that case was disconnect and re-connect the leaking QD fitting. Good luck.

It is leaking, but not gushing or anything. I'll try disconnecting and reconnecting and see if that helps. I ought to be seeing my tractor tomorrow
