countyline disc harrow

It'll do okay for primary tillage if it's sandy loam and not established pasture or something similar. I use a two bottom moldboard plow in establish pastures. I have owed for five years the KK box style disc similar to the one you posted. I pull it with a 35 hp Jinma. Lift the disc before sharp turning is a must. A tiller for secondary tillage would be good if your looking for a fine seed bed. I do a lot of gardens and sometimes i've had to do three stage tillage to get the fine seed beds for some customers.

That looks just like my King Kutter box frame disc. I have a 5 1/2 footer and use it with my JD 790. I would think you would toy with a 6 1/2 footer with a 45 hp tractor. I too use my disc for food plots and for establishing new ground and / or trails.

I think the KK box frame disc represents a good value. They are pretty rugged. I had to back off the most aggressive setting on mine....as it was a bit much for my tractor especially in loose soils.

With a disc.....so much depends on soil types......and even more-so the sod or crops your discing under. Sod is tough without first plowing....but it can be done with a few passes.

I also have a 5' King Kutter tiller.....and much prefer using the tiller over the disc.....if the land will allow it. (I use the disc in my stumpy and rocky areas) I think I paid 800 for my disc and 1250 for the tiller (both at sale prices). FWIW......If I could only have one.....I would have a tiller.

I recently looked at this disk at a TSC store near me and thought it looked okay. I also priced a heavier built 3 pt disc for my 4520, 8ft, 9" spacings, 22" blades about $4000. I also checked on a pull type disc 8' similar spacing and blades for $7000.

When I bought the 4520 this summer I purchased the 673 tiller new for $2900 I think this makes alot more sense for compact tractors since they have higher hp to weight ratios. Tractive effort for these lightweights is not where they shine.
