Don't know if this is the correct forum but I need to do some venting.
I've been saving my nickels & dimes to buy this sprayer and this past week it went on sale. I marched right in that day, loaded one up and came home. This is the brand name that TSC (tractor supply) slaps on the sprayers they sell under their company name. Got home, opened the box to retrieve the assembly instructions for some bed time reading. I immediately saw parts that should not be on the model pictured on the box, on their website, or in the sales flyer. Took the manual inside to study on it. Well, where as the advertised unit uses a single tube with poly brackets to mount the tank and axel, this unit has a chassis of a center tube and two additional tubes ( kind of like an H pattern, with a long center tube. The sprayer info lists a break away boom as it is mounted to the tank using a poly bracket with C clips to hold the tube. The unit I bought uses a L shaped angle iron with two metal extensions to mount the nozzles. No break away feature here.
This morning I called the store to complain that the sprayer listed and pictured on the box is not what is inside the box. The guy mumbled something about mid year manufacturer change and this stuff happens all the time. The manager would be in by ten and would call me.
In the mean time I got out on the web and I tracked down the manufacturer of the Countyline model shown in TSC's product line. I called the company and was able to piece together what I am about to tell you.
Fimco now has a piece of the Countyline action since they could deliver a unit that would cost TSC about $10.00 less per unit. The first manufacturer still makes units shown in TSC's literature. The FIMCO badged Countyline units go to Midwest & western states and the original supplier units go to east coast areas.
Turns out what I had in my box is a Fimco unit. I took it back to the store and got a refund. If I want a Fimco I will buy Fimco!
I strongly feel this slight of hand by TSC is really wrong. They should be changing their information at the very least on the box of the sprayer. The store should be posting a disclaimer that what is pictured and described is not what you are getting. They should have one assembled and on display for customers to make an informed decision. This really reeks like the old "bait n switch" tactics. All the manager would say when made suggestions was they can't do that stuff unless Corporate approves it.
I have contacted our state consumer protection unit with the A/G's office.
I am and remain a very unhappy customer. I am currently attempting to order online as it supposedly would ship from a warehouse that stocks the original unit. We shall see how expensive that route may be.
Please tell me I'm not over reacting!
