I have a m6800 kubota tractor that starts fine but when you release the key back to the run position after about a second or two it shuts off but will start right back up until you release it to the run position again. If you hold the key in the start position it will keep running fine for the moment. Is there a simple way to check the stop solenoid first to make sure that is not somewhere in the ignition switch which is clearly more difficult to check first any thoughts would be appreciated.

Don't know much about them, but :2cents:.......

If it was the stop solenoid, why would the solenoid work when the switch was in the start position?

12 Volts to the solenoid would test it (battery charger or jumper wire?)

Sounds like a bad ignition switch. It is loosing 12 V in the run position.
As stated, try jumping solenoid to see if it will stay running.

I don't know how the Kubota one works, But the Kioti one has 2 coils. One is the large current (25 amp) pull coil, that is energized for 1 second by a module, and the second coil is the hold coil that is low current (less than an amp) that is on the key run buss. An analysis of the schematic and theory of operation is needed here to help determine what is the problem. But there may be more than a single coil on your solenoid.
