OK. The corn is now up between 6 to 8 inches, acre total. I'm thinking of giving it a little shot of nitrogen soon, but before I do, I'd like to hear from some of you who also grow corn. How tall do you let yours get before you turn on the Nitro? Actually, we've had a few rains this spring, so I'm considering another application of starter fertilizer first, poor sandy soil.

We normally side-dress after we do the 1st cultivation.
Last year a friend of mine dissolved dry Urea (47% nitrogen) in water and hit his sweet corn with that mix. It seemed to work well and I just might follow his lead this year.
This year we're also going to try some Round-Up ready field corn for the critters. We'll see how that works out later.... With my luck once I blast the weeds with Round-Up the corn will die too.
