Not sure where is the best place to post this question but here goes...

What do you think of the cordless grease guns and which brand/model do you prefer?

With three tractors and a dozer that eats grease like ice cream, I'm thinking of getting one of these and wondered about your experiences. Thanks in advance.

Two companies that I've sold bulk grease to refuse to let their people use them. For the 120 pound quarter barrels of grease they use the pneumatic rigs and they use the plain jane manual guns for the tubes. One of the coal mines have slacked off and let one of their greasers use a Lincoln 14.4 volt model.

I'm not sure of the reason they don't seem to like them. The one greaser said that other mines and equipment companies have reported a high increase in grease used with the cordless pumpers, suggesting a lot is wasted and just shot out on the ground. Take that for what it's worth, but the 14.4 volt Lincoln is the only one I've really heard feedback about. Being that most everything used in the mines and the heavy excavating business is used "like it's stolen", they must be pretty tough because I've not heard about any failing.

If you do all your equipment greasing at a location where you have compressed air, the pneumatic guns are cheaper and I sure wouldn't bother with a cordless. But many farmers grease their equipment in the field and use manual grease guns. In those circumstances, the battery powered ones are good. The only brand I've known anything about is the Lincoln and when my brother was a Matco Tool distributor he sold quite a number of them to mechanics who did onsite work for them to carry on the service trucks. He said he never had a customer unhappy with one.

I have the Lincoln cordless as do several other TBNers. Sure is nice to walk around the tractor and not fight a hose trailing behind you. I use a cane to get around and that gun is almost a one hander.

You do have to be sure to get the air bled when you change grease tubes. That is about the only complaint I have heard about the unit. Unless you have a lot of equipment to grease at one time you should not need the extra battery.

I have had the Lincoln 12v cordless grease gun for about 2 1/2 years. The rechargeable battery last a long time (I am still on the original battery). It has worked flawlessly. It makes it fun to grease. It was recommended to me by the good people here on TBN - they were right. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
