I'm about to install my new Dishwasher and I'm wondering how much Copper could one salvage out of a typical old Dishwasher?

The company who is delivering mine free of charge also offers to haul the old one away free of charge, but I'm now thinking that I may just want to keep it for the Copper that I can salvage out of it.

I have an old Kenmore that's about 24 years old.

Any info would be appreciated.

I would say not much. Even being an old one, probabally only has maybe 2lb of copper at the most if you include tearing into the little electric motor that drives it. You will spend half a day trying to get at 5 bucks worth of copper. Not worth it IMO.

That said, I you make frequent trips to the scrap yard, I would just scrap it as steel and be done. Might weigh 100#, and around here that would bring $12 or so. Not worth it if you never go or dont have anything else to go with it. (would probabally spend more in fuel). But I'm all the time scrapping old junk, cars, etc. So it would be no big deal for me to add it to the pile on the trailer.

It still might be fun to tear it apart. I love doing that. I use a lot of scrap sheet metal from old washers or dryers.
