So wanna share my entertaining story so others can do this much quicker and cleaner.....
NX manual states every 2 years, and was a year late on this.......

Well the radiator drain plug is a rubber cap with a center rubber plug and a hose clamp.
So here is what I strongly recommend.
Get a 3/4" radiator hose about 24-36" long. Remove plug and quickly insert hose and set into drain pan.
THEN the cap can be removed for a fast drain down into the pan......not the floor.......lol

I did not do this, at first. So as coolant trickled out, the genius factor kicked in. (Wiley was really thinking here!)
Opened cap and coolant shot out about two feet over the drain pan and coated the shop floor.....:thumbdown: cwap....

Well did insert hose, only to learn it was drained after the three second spurt.....:shocked::D

Manual states one gallon for HST.....ah...NO.........almost took the full two gallons, including the reservoir tank.

So as summer progresses and you folks remember coolant replacement may be a good idea, hope this helps.......

Carry on....!:)

and if ya'll already knew this and I'm the only dummy out there then well enjoy the laugh on me....:drink:

So what brand of coolant did you change it out with ?

The Ck2610 also says 2 years. Seems odd they have not gone to long life coolant yet. It's not anything special per the manual (ie not "diesel grade" coolant), so I don't see any negatives, with a proper fush. Then you go to a 5 year service schedule.

Changed mine after 5 years. Pissed me off because someone came back and said the Coolgard container says it is good for 6. Could have gone another year.

Tractor manual recommendations are about 40 years out of date. This coolant change every other year is from the 80s. Since then, almost all vehicles have gone to 10 year changes. This is what I'm planning on my Isuzu diesel on the generator. It says that.

Waste of coolant and environmental problem in disposal and waste of individual effort, even though it isn't much on a little tractor.

My new to me 2006 Kubota L48 TLB has 250 hours, and is now 14 years old.
I assume the coolant has never been changed.
Should I change it?
I do know that the oils and filters have been changed.

Lots of thermal cycling will eventually reduce it's properties.......would replace and use extended life and you will have a good baseline for another 5-7 years at least...

So what brand of coolant did you change it out with ?

Had a gallon of Peak, got another NAPA gallon of green stuff.......
Next one will be the ELC type that my F-2fiddy uses.....and be done with it.......but it looks like my 200 hours of annual work may finally slow down as it looks like I'm getting into maintenance mode of property.
All I have left is grading around the house once we move in.

So coolant should be good for at least these upcoming two years.

Anyone getting ready to do this I sure would go the ELC route......since these do not have wet cylinders use whatever you use for you vehicles......
AND
agree these manuals are horrible (to be polite, I've got DI language for more accurate description) and outdated. To which there is NO excuse in the era of PDF files.
Those 1950 era photos are no where close to the modern day production models.

Well that's it for the rant.....Time to go and TLC the peach and pear trees.......

Ya'll have a cool weekend.....:drink:
