I have an older finishing mower (5') that I may try to "convert" to use to cut weeds in my pasture. I do not have any heavy brush, only a small amount of low growing briars.
Since this is a side discharge mower, should I cut the other side of the deck out also? Would this help with clogging in heavy grass? Or should I weld up the side discharge and cut out the back of the deck?

Anyone ever tried this?

my side discharge has "shoots" build in to move the grass from the far side of the deck over to the discharge side without interfering with the middle or discharge side blades.

So to make it into a rear discharge your likely going to have to carve up more than just the rear to make it work right.

But speaking from experience if you have no deflector on it and are mowing at about 5" tall there is little that comes out the side anyway.

Ive mowed my front pasture with my MMM in the up postion giving me a mow'd height of about 5-6" and little comes out the discharge shoot dispite cutting knee high "Grass"
