Ecoboast, when I did my conversion I found the use of steel lines much easier for overall space. I also used this company to order the proper fitting from the tractor ports that are British threads to JIC.

I recently had posted about adapting/adding electric power assist steering (EPAS) to my 1650 with FEL (cause it - and other similar models - is a bear to steer!) But there were a few things that I wasnt especially pleased with --- so, I backed up and done a 're-fit'

The EPAS systems are VERY common on the newer cars and I had used one off an 03-07 Saturn Vue using an after market module to make it work. I first tried this on a Wheel Horse garden tractor and it turned out rather well so I decided to try it on the Mitsu -- and, it did work ... for a while. The electrics were just too finiky.

Since starting these projects I had found out that many - if not most, Japanese cars with EPAS would function without the after market module. This opened up a large variety of sizes/shapes/ and mostly power to choose from. From research I found the larger cars had the more robust motors which I figured was a factor in a rather heavy 4wd with FEL loaded! So I opted for a unit from a '14 Hyundai Sonata for my next venture. Pretty much had to start from scratch to do the retrofit but I was able to also work it in between the steer wheel and steer box. Mind you, this is not a project for the faint of heart! I have many hours in fitting/adapting/bracing/cutting/welding, etc etc to get the end result (thankfully I'm retired so time isnt a problem) It was/is sure worth it tho, I went out and got a full bucket load of dirt and it handled it with ease! Money wise its not bad, from my experience and reading of others, these units sell in the $50 range from the u-pull-it places.

Took a couple better pictures this time .....
A few have used automotive electric Power Steering. Here is a link to the pics of the above post
