Has anyone done the conversion of the stock underhood exhaust to the verticle pipe? Before I spend 200+ bucks for the "kit" any opinions? tightness? Or i9s it something that constantly vibrates/rattles?

Besides the "ego issue"-looks good, and the elimination of the blackened loader-I'm thinking its another line of "defense" when I'm in the woods and it deflects a branch better that the windshield would.

There's some posts here on the conversion. With pictures and good details. IIRC, there's a circular cutout on the inside of your hood for that very purpose. You can see it with the hood up. Don't recall any major issues with tightness or rattles.

Of course, every time you check the engine, etc. you'll have to pull the exhaust pipe off.

That's what would discourage me from going through the cowl. If there's a need to open the hood with a hot engine, I don't want to have to wait till the exhaust pipe cools down. Given the alternative, I can live with a little black soot on my loader.

We used to have a 4120 open station that had the vertical exhaust. Had 660 hours on it. The exhaust has a heat shield around where you grab it to remove it. It's cool enough to grab it even after running it awhile. It fits nicely with absolutely no rattles and you can turn it any which direction in ninety degree increments.

I installed the vertical exhaust on my open station 3320 a couple of year ago. I really like it.
I've had to remove is hot once or twice, and with a pair of work gloves on I can't feel any appreciable heat through the gloves to my hands. No problems with rattles either.

I really didn't care about the soot on the loader, but what a relief not to have the exhaust constantly blowing dust into the air when working in the dirt. I guess you guys with cab models don't have that problem...

I know I have the wrong color but I did a conversion on my Kubota. Best time and money spent. I just don't like the soot everywhere and it blows dirt around with the horizontal exhaust. I just wish Kubota would offer the option like JD. Instead I had to engineer my own.

I just put the vertical exhaust kit on my 3720 a couple of weeks ago. It took no more than 20 minutes from start to finish. I really like having the exhaust vertical as opposed to the factory location. I was concerned about being able to remove the stack and lift the hood after the engine was running. The ventilated cowling around the pipe stays at a temperature that is low enough to remove the vertical pipe immediately after shutting the engine down. I am glad I installed this.

I have one on my 3520 (look at my avatar pic). Ill get some better pics tomorrow and post. The stack has a heat shroud on it I have removed it while the engine was at operating temp with bare hands. It does not rattle and fits on tight and pulls right off. Has 4 different settings as well.
