I hope this is the right forum for this posting. I've been looking at tractors off and on for a couple years now, looking for something small enough to still mow with, yet large enough to do some heavier duty work like snow blowing, brush mowing, and grading a driveway.

Currently, we live on 5 acres of mostly open land, 3 of which gets mowed. We also own 68 acres of woods with trails/open field at about a 50/50 mix. We intend to build on this land some day and when we do, we will have a 1/4-1/2 mile driveway that will need to be maintained.

So, I recently was able to get some face time with a NH 2030/2035 and it really seems like combined with a MMM, front snowblower, and FEL to be just what the doctor ordered. The question(s) I have really are:

1) Is this going to be too heavy for mowing a lawn? With turf tires and a MMM, I believe the weight comes out at 2600lbs or so. I know that is a bit on the high side for mowing, but it should still work, no?

2) Is having turf tires going to really cripple my ability for working in the woods, even though I'm mostly on fairly major trails? I am looking at some brush mowing to keep the trails open, and hauling out firewood.

3) Will turf tires w/chains work well enough during the winter?

4) And last but not least, is anyone aware of any trailer manufacturers that build an enclosed 8x16 or 8x18 tandem trailer w/regular ramps vs. a backdoor ramp w/ axles in the 5200lb class? I don't have a pole shed, yet and if I buy a tractor I want to be able to store it indoors.

Anyhow, those are my main questions. I've been given a quote of a little over $20k for a 2035 w/FEL and am leaning heavily towards this setup, but figured I'd get some opinions here.

I should mention, I'm actually more familiar with Kubota as that is what my dad has, but it really seems like the Kubota is lacking a tractor in the 2035 class.

Thanks in advance for any advice/answers.

I just got an "official" quote and a NH 2035 w/SuperSteer, FEL, 72" MMM, 63" front snowblower came to a total of roughly $33,500 -- ouch. In general, it seems to be a bit higher than I was expecting. Wondering if I'm just off base on expecting this to be roughly $4k lower than it was?

Thanks for the link, I went over that site and it just paints a similar story to what I'm seeing -- prices have a huge range. It does not help that apparently the 2035 is the same as the T2220, which used to be the TC34(not sure on this one).

As for the Chippewa Valley, yeah, it is a pretty nice area. Any recommendations or warnings about the different implement dealers in the area?

Thanks again!

When I lived there I worked a bit for Morrisons in Chippewa. They were super good to deal with and went out of their way to be customer friendly. But they sold to that bigger JD dealer Kohel and I heard that they were not customer friendly at all. I see that they are now Tractor Central. I do not know if their customer service has changed at all.

I haven't dealt with any others in the Chippewa or Eau Claire area, sorry

I have heard good things about Swiderski in Mosinee. They are just south of Wausau. They seem to treat people well.

Yeah, there is a Swiderski in Thorp I've spoken to. Guess i'll check out the other New Holland dealers in the area as well and see what prices run. It seems to me they are really playing with numbers though; one dealer had the tractor for almost 24k, but the implements were cheaper - the other had the tractor lower, but the implements were a lot higher ($6500 for the snow blower...).

Just an idea, what about the T1510, T1520? You can get a MMM with these.

I looked at the T1520, but preferred the 2035 overall. Bit more compact, easier to see from the platform, etc.

I have a 3040 and love it. I think for what you are wanting to do, the 20 series will be great. It won't be too heavy. And with R4 tires you would get pretty good traction and they are not bad on your lawn either.

Unfortunately, I'm finding that the tractor w/FEL runs in the $22-23k range on its own. Add in attachments and the price gets rather insane, fast. I have one implement dealer looking to sell me a Kubota instead, partly because of how expensive the NH is getting.
