1992, has 1300 hours, JD 440 loader, looks from the pictures about 60" wide bucket. Owner says light use, $15,000. Of course he is trying to get is sold for max and I'm trying to get it bought for minimum. any thoughts, quality, price. comments. Avg wholesale, avg retail? I know it's a Yanmar, think it's a turbo 39 hp 4cly. Seems over priced?

It is a turbo. Saw one of these with 13500 hrs on it. Was used to cut 50 acres of grass at a time. Should hold up for you. Sticking clutch is what to look out for with these. Clutch job will add about 2 grand as tractor needs to be split.

No turbo... the JD 1050 had a turbo; the 1070 is a regular "air breather". Great tractor, though. Very dependable and rugged.

The clutch issues depended greatly upon whether the tractor sat idle for extended periods of time - especially in humid or moist locations. The face of the pressure plate would "sweat" and rust and stick (bond) to the clutch. PITA! But, if you know the tractor is gonna sit for a good spell - block the clutch pedal down with a piece of 2x4 or similar to clear the clutch face from the pressure plate.

The price seems a bit high... the 440 loader is a good loader and a step up from the earlier model 80. It has the quick-tach bucket, too.

1,300 hours is a low-hour machine. If it's a 1-owner machine and they maintained it regularly and didn't beat the crap out of it - should run for 3-4 thousand hours - easily.

We have a '94 1070 w/1200hrs, 440 fel, pin bucket at work. Great machine no problems.

1070 w/1300hrs. I would say pay no more than 12k. unless its flawless. Good luck

I have a 1070 with 1800ish hours and love it! i have had a few little things to keep it running but its a great little tractor! 13500 would be all its worth IMO. 15k is more like dealer price.

I'm surprised they didn't carry over the turbo to the 1070. My mistake. What I saw at the fairgrounds was a 1050 and thought the "70" series were mostly carry overs from the "50" series with only a few appearance changes. Live and learn. Thanks AK for the correction.

I had a 1070. It replaced a 955. Loved both tractors. The 955 was a little small, and the 70 series were only offered with gear trannys, which ultimately drove me to a 4700 HST. However, the 1070 was a very nice unit. Biggest gripe was that the gearing left a spot missing in the ground speed between A3 and B1 that I needed for mowing. Minor gripe was the appearance of rust on the fenders where the sections of metal overlapped.

Yup.. my 970 had some rust developing in the fender seams, too. Wasn't a whole lot that could be done except a periodic sanding and repriming and touch up job. But it never looked the same again..

One feature that I especially liked about the gear 970 that I don't have on my eHydro 110TLB is that foot throttle on the floor. Very useful.
