I'm pondering a serious upgrade in lawn equipment and have found a nice looking BX1500D with 300 hrs. within driving distance. Priced at $5500. The math sound fair to me but admittedly I have not beeen looking for long. Not sure if the deck is 48 or 54 but doesn't much matter either way.

My tractor will handle all the heavy stuff, this unit's use would be strictly light duty yard maintanence and mowing.

Is this price in line? What are some of the model specific things I should be looking for or concerned with?

Thanks

Edit: A site search brings up a concern regarding the HST fan/filter needing a skid plate added?

That's a pretty cute 1500. I think the seller is a bit proud of it, but you might want to push him/her and see if there's any wiggle room.

On eBay, these, along with 2200, 2230 BXs have stalled out at $4000 plus or minus. I have been watching them for months. Chalk it up to the economy.

You won't have to worry too much about that fan. That belly mower is about the best "guard" you can have. :)

agreed that the MMM is plenty of protection for the HST fan...With an FEL that would be a good price..Without, seems a little high to me.

Is this a private party sell of from a dealer? How did you hear about it? I ask because that very machine is on e-bay and is at a pawn shop with a buy it now for $5500. Most pawn shops will deal a bit on what they sell.

Don't forget to compute the sales tax. 6% state will equal an additional $300. that you wouldn't have to pay a private party. Just sayin'.

1*Here is my BX1500 with a 48'' mower.
new 7750 *** used 5250.
2* Don't under estamate the BX1500 It is a much more capable than that.
3* Sounds pretty good to me .

The BX 1500s are a one of a kind thing.
No other manufacture makes anything comparable to it.

LB has 2 or 3. Maybe he will sell you one of his and then he can move up to a BX1860 or maybe even get a step ladder and go up to a B.:):)

I bought a used BX1500 with 100 hrs on it and it was in great shape and had a Grill guard on the front and a 54" deck. It was a castaway of JOHNTHOMAS
in the post before me(#8). Hey John how have you been? Back to the thread, I like the BX1500 and it is a tank it sticks to the hills and I have my Rear tires loaded. You would think the %$" deck would be to much for the 15HP but it does great. The only place you ever long for more power is when you are mowing up steep hills in thick/tall grass. Price of $5500 is not a lot high but in this economy I would try to negotiate it down a bit. I saw this unit on E-bay and I think it is the same unit you are looking at.

Yes it's the same one. I'm going to watch it and see what happens. If no one bites the $5500 they'll be in more of a negotiating mode after the listing expires. If it gets away there will be others before the robins start singing.

It's across the state line so if I "take possession" of it in NC the VA sales tax may vanish in the transaction.
