Help i'm confused with batteries in series and parralell. the batteries loose there power after the first starting.A neighbour said maybe the batteries have been put on wrong. We have wired them possitive to possitive and earth to earth.
Hope someone can help

If using 12 volt batteries, the connections as you describe them are correct.

Thanks RickB,
Have you any idea why the batteries would loose the charge after starting they are both good batteries 1 about a year old and the other a month old.we have had them tested.
So scratching my head as to what could drain them so quickly.

Probably a parasitic draw somewhere in the system. First thing I'd do is disconnect the battery ground cable for a few days and see if they stay charged. Suspect alternator diodes very early in the troubleshooting process.

It's possible the starter is drawing too many amps during the starting process. Have you ever checked starter amp draw?? If ground cables are still attached to battery box I'd suggest to relocate the ground cable to engine block or better yet starter mounting bolt.

When you connect batteries in parralell you keep voltage the same in series the voltage is supplemetry (12 +12). So if it 12 volts it has to be par

How soon after starting do they lose power?

Are they getting charged while the tractor is running?

Do you have a voltmeter to check the power?

They loose the charge after a few seconds of running, the same as being running for an hour or so.No I dont own a voltmeter.I am not even sure how to use one. Yesterday i checked the starter motor as the neighbour sugested the starter may not be disengageing I tested this with jump leads and the bendex jumps out when powered and returns when disconnected.

Assuming 12V starter and charging system, which I believe the 2130 is:
If 12V batteries (usually 6 cell), then connect them in parallel (+ to +, - to -).
If, for some reason, 6V (3 cell) batteries are used, connect them in series (+ to -) so that there's 12V across the two batteries. The + of one and the - of the other makes the 12V that get connected to the tractor.
