Question how many will it take to hold up mesh.
I don't know a thing about them. Just saw them today for the first time.
Maybe someone more knowledgeable about them will chime in.
Did you look at the video?

They work, I've seen people use bricks and stones as well. The problem comes when you pour. If you stand on the mesh you'll either bend it or break the chairs. Once the cement flows things kind of get hectic and it's not easy to carefully step in the holes.

Evidently these are designed to be walked/driven on and they pop right back up.

Chairs help, but the only surefire way to get the mesh back into place during the pour is to use the hook on the back of a concrete rake and manually pull it into place, it will sink between the chairs unless you are using 60 grade 8 guage road mesh or something.
Disclosure- did flatwork/foundations for 8 years.

Skip the mash completely and use rebar on either chairs or doobes. It is a far superior result.

If your concrete guy says don't bother with the chairs or doobes, get a different concrete guy.

Everyone should write this down for future use.

I'm in total agreement with this.

Wire mesh is a very good material for concrete, but impossible to spread concrete on if you have to walk on it. There is no way to pull it up and spread it while walking on it at the same time. Some guys will put on a show of doing so while spreading the concrete, but it's not working. They are still walking on it, and their weight, and the weight of the concrete will win every time over what little bit they try to pull up while standing on that same wire mesh three feet away from their hook.

If you are doing a sidewalk, or small pad, then it's easy to keep wire mesh in the middle of your pad. That would be the only time it works.

Rebar costs more money and takes more time and effort to place. It also works every time that it's done properly. It's easy to walk between the rebar, and if it gets pushed off a chair, it's easy to pick up and put back to where it's supposed to be. You only get one chance to pour concrete and get it right, why cut corners by using a product that has a proven history of failure?
