I ain't much of a composter, I kinda have a "rot pen" where I toss leaves, weeds and any think I feel will, can break down (on occasion egg shells, veggy and fruit remains etc). Then if I'm working dirt and have some in my bucket I mix it all up. It seems to work okay...but our place is on Iron Hill so we got our share of clay soil, ore, etc.,
The one think I see that will help your new place is the sun, sun, Mr. Golden Sun... it helps to cook the stuff down, oh and when you got old grass....yummy!! That's my problem, we are surrounded by trees and where it's sunny the wife would shot me with a 44 mag. if I put in plain site.
But, you're looking good!
Looks like some nice compost there. Why bother with the fences though? Why not just piles?
Well...The fences were my dad's idea...
I thought it would be OK just piled up...![]()

I handle compost with the FEL, not sure how you're going to do that with those fences. You'll push them right over. It's nice to be able to come at it from any angle to pick up as much as possible. The only advantage of a fence is if you have real critter problems. We have racoons, coyotes and skunks digging through everything, but you'd need a fence all the way around and some kind of a gate.
