Has anyone had any experience with the KUBOTA MINI excavator's usefulness and strength compared to the [AFFILIATE=1, nofollow=true, newwindow=true, title="Kubota"]Kubota[/AFFILIATE] L3800 plus BH77 or other versions of larger tractors with BH92 ?

I have seen Excavators with grapples and brush cutters so figure an excavator might be a better replacement for my recently stolen MX5100 subject to safety concerns

All opinions will be appreciated.

I used to have a M59 which is a superior backhoe to either of those options and I have a kx-040 now. The mini x is vastly better. The mini x is available with a cab, the 40 is stronger than the m59, the mini controls are better, the visibility of the bucket is better on the mini, the mini hydraulics are faster, the mini reach is better both vertical and horizontal distance, and 360 swing is a big asset. An excavator cab isn’t as sturdy as other equipment has but it’s still better than than a tractor backhoe which has zero protection for the operator. A KX-040 specs over double the bucket breakout force of the BH92. The KX-018 or KX71 would be more equally matched against those backhoes.

THere is no camparison between a mini-x and a tractor backhoe attachment.

The only question would be what other things do you do with a tractor.

A tractor is vastly more diverse.

Sure, you can run a brush cutter on an excavator.......but you aint gonna want to mow a 5 acre field with it.

IF the mini ex can do everything you want....than its vastly superior to a hoe attachment. But thats a big IF.

Tractor aptitude test question number 15:

True or False: A hand shovel is to SCUT/CUT back hoe as a SCUT/CUT backhoe is to mini-x

Answer: True

Mini Ex, hands down. Problem is, the mini ex has a limited operational scope. I work on them regularly so I get to operate many brands and sizes and I'd take one over any tractor and they were more versatile which, they aren't.

All depends on the proposed task actually.

Need the tractor, no hoe and a mini !

What mini-ex's have enough flow to run a brush hog or what brush hogs are tuned down to run by one?

I have had both...Once I got the KX121 mini x...I never used the BH77. The difference is night and day. If all you have is the BH77..It decent for small stuff. Comparing a Mini X to a BH77 is like comparing a BH77 to a shovel.

That was my point as well. All about the intended uses

Someone who wants to bushhog a field regularly, mulch flowerbeds, handle snow removal, grade a drive, till a garden....and occasionally has a need to dig a small trench or a small hole to plant trees......then without question a tractor is a better choice.

If 95% of the work involves digging with a hoe.....you'd be foolish to spend money on a tractor and BH attachment
