I'm about to buy a new tractor. I have a good rapport going with the John Deere dealer and have numbers to work with. I have not had much communication or response from the Kubota dealer. I've heard JD is more expensive but holds the value better. My quick conversation with the Kubota dealer indicated that Kubota is actually more expensive. I'm sure the tractors are not really comparable...but I could be wrong. I'm looking at a John Deere 5065E with FEL, pallet forks and 6' cutter. It is 4WD. Here is my question:

What is the most comparable Kubota?

Thanks!

Get the JD 12/12 reverser transmission. Kubota is a solid tractor too. It was my experience too, the orange tractor cost's more. But I also have a JD dealer 4 miles from my house too, JD was clearly the best option for me.

You hope you don't need the dealer. JD "might" have a better resale value, but not if you are unlucky enough to buy a poorly engineered model or version. There were 5000 series that were not very good.

In my opinion, getting a 'bad" one is less likely with Kubota. Not so over-engineered.

For what it's worth, I would try and buy a Kubota AG tractor, over JD if I had to buy one tomorrow.

Kubota M6060 will be closest in power, hydraulics, and physical dimensions other than weight. The JD is a little heavier.

I have seen Kubota Ag tractors come into friends shops, and I just looked at them and thought, I wish my JD 6200 Idled that smoothly! I need to up the idle speed a bit to get things to stop shaking. But then it's really not idling anymore.

I can not make a direct comparison for you but I have a M6800 Kubota and a 5525 JD. The Kubota has its strengths but the JD does also. My M Kubota has quiter engine and runs very smooth and the JD is little louder but is also 20 hp larger. What I would look at is the transmission for synchronized gears and range shifters. How the draft control works. On mine big difference. How the hyd levers operate. Can you feather hyds, if you are getting a fel does one operate the curl and lift at same time and the other not. Is the clutch a wet or dry clutch. Same on the brakes.

JD 5000e is not the only 5000 model JD. Per JD web site not made in same country and some features are different. JD 5000e is not the only 5000 model JD. Per JD web site not made in same country and some features are different. Don't assume the different 5000 JD models are the same.

Would you guys pay $1,621 for a 5 year bumper to bumper warranty?

No. Chances of needing it due to a defect is pretty low. They aren’t going to cover operator negligence that causes the vast majority of problems.

Thanks. That's what I was thinking. I just want a simple transaction with no hidden costs...seems like that's too much to ask. Just got the final approval and it's $1,460 more than we discussed...this is like buying a car almost.
