The transmission/hydraulic fuild for my ck30 is clear. Is there some type of additive I can use to give it to give it some color to make it eaiser to read or is there a transmission/hydraulic other than clear.

I asked this question a couple of years ago and was told that Caterpillar dealers sell some sort of dye that can be added to the HST fluid. I never did get around to finding a Cat dealer and instead just use a paper towel (lay the dipstick against a paper towel and you can see where the level is).

Don't know if you have thought about it or not, but how about drilling some small holes in the dipstick. Small holes are customarily drilled in dipsticks at the high, low and some where about midway. The oil will film over the hole at the depth it is at.

That should work. I have been happy with just touching the dipstick to some absorbant material like a paper towel (I don't like to admit that sometimes it is my pants as I use other excuses for how I got oil on my pants when coming into the house). Priorities.

Anyone thought about just adding food coloring or maybe some fabric dye ?

I think food and fabric dyes are water soluable. The dye would have to be oil or solvent type . I think :)
