Cole Fertilizer Side Dressers

I am picking up a multi-row Cole Side Dresser tomorrow. Anyone use these before? Any tips on calibrating them? I hope to use it for my corn and pumpkins. Everything was oiled and greased by the PO before putting it away. There are no hopper covers and the hoppers are damaged a little but they should work with my JD 71's.

I got the Cole Side Dresser home today. Better deal than I expected. The seller gave me 7 Cole fertilizer units with lids, 12 injector tines, 14 rubber hoses, 13 foot tool bar, a hydraulic pump, plus a box of spare parts. Two of the hoppers are somewhat damaged but the others are newer and two have never been used before. I've been looking for a deal on a Cole Side Dresser for a few years and finally found one. I don't need the tool bar because I'll move two of the units to my cultivator. Now I'll be able to side dress and cultivate my corn in a single pass.

I have seven units and I only need two for myself. So I'll be selling the others. I have no clue what the cost of shipping to AL would be. I only have one drive wheel though.

Here are a few close up shots Chris. The second photo is the bottom of the hopper. Picture 3,4 and 5 are of the distributor and toolbar mount. The last 2 are of the one of the hoppers. The 13' toolbar is out in the snow. Each hopper holds 250lbs of granular fertilizer. I am keeping two of the hoppers.

My f-hoppers look like they may be a little wide for your planter. The base part looks to be similar if not identical. I am only keeping 2 and have five extra. I have no idea on how to ship these to the S.E. USA. I'll have to ask a few neighbors who may be going to FL in March if they have extra room.

Thanks for the pictures. I know we talked on my thread last year about adding fertilize to a JD 71 planter. I send you a PM.

If you could tell me the diameter of the drive wheel I'm sure that I could cobble something together with a sprocket, cultipacker wheel, and frame.

I spent a little time yesterday cutting apart the tool bar and going through the box stuff I got from the seller. I now realize what I thought was a hydraulic pump is actually the optional Cole hydraulic drive kit. Any idea what this hydraulic drive kit is worth? Other uses?
