Cold!!!--Time to go fishing

Todays high in the Twin Cities will be just above zero. Called a guy near where my fish house is and they expect 20 below tonight.

This means we will be driving on the lake this weekend and pulling the house out 5-6 miles.

With movies like Grumpy Old men, most people have now heard of and seen ice fishing, but if there's any interest in some "real" pics, I'd be happy to take a few. The lake I fish developes small "towns" on the ice and the resorts put out bridges to cross cracks in the ice.

This coming weekend we need to do some work on the house, but I'm spending 3 days the weekend after so I can take some time to take a few pics.

Heck Bob, since the Vikings got beat by Arizona, you probably won't be watching any playoff games anyway (Sorry - I couldn't resist!! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif), so you might as well get out there fishing!

Please, do take some pictures. My father-in-law is an advid ice fisherman who has not had much chance to go this year. However, we'll be experiencing some of the same weather patterns that are affecting you, so I'm sure he'll be out soon also. Hey Garry,

Yeah--the vikes don't deserve to be in the play-offs. Like him or not, Brett Favre always manages to find a way to win and I like to see guys like that do well.

I'll post some pics from my 3 day weekend over January 16, 17 and 18th. Your father in law may already own a house like ours, but I'll take some "action" pics just in case he doesn't. Our house is the crank down style which allows us to pull it like a trailer, but when we get on the lake, we can lower it down on the ice.

Well here in West Michigan it is cold and we got 3in of snow but with the warm rain we got last Fri. my lake opened up and is still partly open yet today. Here it is the 5th of Jan. and I would have to Take my boat out to catch any of those big perch. Usually I could be using my tractor to push the snow off to make a ice rink. Ive got my snowplow on the front and my blower on the back and all it is doing is set in the garage. Looks like this year around here if you want to icefish you had better have a portable shanty or else it might fall in over nite.

Naw, he's too cheap to have one of those houses like what you have. He uses one of those tent deals that fold open and closed. In all fairness, he doesn't live that close to any bodies of water, so it would make it a little difficult for him to have one of those "Grumpier Old Men" type houses.

I'm sure he'd get a kick out seeing the pics. I'll just tell him that if he'd have something like that, even I might go fishing with him, although I don't know if there'd be room inside to swing a driver! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Probably not room to swing a driver, but you could watch golf on the TV/VCR or DVD player.

We have 4 other people who have houses up there so Saturday night is typically set aside for a fish fry and card playing with ample amounts of B.S. scattered throughout the entire time.

I know one thing's for sure. After the way the Colts played yesterday, I'll be rooting for Kansas City! The Colts were absolutely unbelievable! If they keep playing the way they have the last few games, they've got a real shot at it. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

The Pack did win, but I don't think they are playing well enough to get pack Philly. They just barely won yesterday in Lamb field where they usually kick the crap out of most teams in the temperatures they had. Seattle handled them pretty well and had a great chance to win if it wasn't for the one mistake!!

But because they are in the same division I am cheering for them.
