A few weeks ago I was doing a lot of dirt work (fel) and I started hearing some noise. It wasn't very loud but kind of a stretching type noise. I finally figured out it was when I was depressing the clutch and seemed to more noticeable in reverse. I'll adjust the clutch this weekend but was wondering if anyone knew what it might be and if adjustment might help? The clutch works as it should be making noise. thanks, Bob

. . .a stretching type noise.

Bob, have you been watching me exercise? My stretching noises are awful.:laughing:

Seriously, by "stretching noise" do you mean like a spring sometimes makes as it is expanded? Is it possible your clutch return spring is setting up a harmonic vibration? Since the clutch always operates in the same direction for forward and reverse, if the sound changes when the direction changes, then it would seem to eliminate the clutch. However, if the sound only happens when the clutch is depressed, it might be from the thrust bearing. Not sure. . .

Bob,

Did you mean "screeching" noise , such as metal rubbing against metal, or your finger nails against the blackboard? When clutch is pushed all the way then the fingers on pressure plate touch the release bearing. If the bearing is running dry that might cause some screeching noise.
