Climbing uphill in Wet grass

Would a 2wd be sufficient for uphill about 10% slope in wet grass? Ie something like the kawi mule or brute force 300? Or i should keep looking for a 4wd? I should clarify, it will ve used mainly in carrying feed, not mowing.

I ran a 2wd atv some years ago and found its traction was awful for mowing.

Generally speaking 4WD is needed for slope mowing. You may also wanna look for knobby rear tires. Avoid mowing across slopes, up and down is the safest technique. Also avoid wet grass, just let it dry before mowing.

You may be "lucky" in 2WD - safe in 4WD. I sure as heck don't run around on my tractor when it's wet - @ 10,000+ pounds - "chevron tracks" are not a mark of success. AND - who mows wet grass??

Sorry, i should clarify, it will be used on a utv ie kawasaki mule, or brute force atv to haul feed uphill, not any mowing.

Ya' know, it's funny .... my two 2WD grass cutters will scoot up my hills without much of a whimper (when the transmission is cold) and I can pull a small trailer full of wood with the Craftsman. Virtually no traction issues at all -- no slippage or tire spinning as long as I'm not on mud. I added chains to help control downhill travel, but I'm not sure they do much uphill.

With the SCUT, I have to be in Low to climb a hill ... the same hill the little mower will pull a trailer of wood up.

Seems like it's more about machine weight and gearing/power to the ground than 2WD or 4WD.

I don't have any experience with ATV/UTV type machines though.

A 10 percent grade is nothing. Even if it’s 10 degrees it’s not that bad. Even a golf cart would do that with the stock tires.

Depends on the weight of the tractor.

The utv will be about 600-700 lbs lol

I would expect 2wd to be fine. If you do get one and end up needing better traction, aggressive rear tires would probably fix it right up.
