My bucket hose blew out on my backhoe and sprayed oil all over the cab. It was late in the day and I thought I will deal with this on the next trip.
The initial rupture was bad enough but then I had to jockey things to get back into transport mode so I could get it down near the barn. A local farm girl friend suggested Pine Sol works great for hydraulic fluid. I don't have a water well at the place or would just use my pressure washer. I do have water from my spring. I actually have some Pine Sol in the barn that I use as blade lube on the sawmill.

You know....most gas powered power washers will suck from a tank as long as hose is real short. Ask me how i know.

I think I tried that but might have been with an old electric pressure washer. The specs on mine require min 20psi inlet.

oh. mine sucks water from a open pan. i use that to pressure wash my vinyl fence which is 400 feet from water source. works great. the manual said it would, and to test it i simply hooked a hose onto it and the faucet. did some spraying. then unhooked hose from faucet. left 25' hose on ground. continued to spray without any reduction in pressure until hose was drained.

With due respect, I don't know that I'd worry too much about it. Clean your glass and move on. I've had that happen to me and it seems the rain will ultimately rinse any residue off.

Some folks don't have a 30 year old machine though and are understandably more particular about that kind of thing.

And you get the honor of this being my 4,000 post.... it's only taken me 20 years to get there. ;)

Use some dry saw dust to scrub off the oil. Don't use a pressure washer fed from a tank. The direct engine drive pump (usually) requires a positive head. Otherwise the pump cavitates and destroys the plungers. Pumps designed to operate from a tank are usually belt drive so the plungers operate at a slow speed.

Well watch the rain forecast. Here that would be 2 out of 3 days this summer. Purple stuff or Dawn dishwasher (liquid) do a good job with grease or oil.

Uusually use something like GUNK degreaser and follow with Simple Green.... SG is amazing for a cleaner the is environmentally friendly (bio degradable)...

I tried again to see if my gas pressure washer would work gravity feed....it wouldn't :(. Yeah I think some of the rain from Laura might help. I'm curious about the Pine Sol so will splash some of that if I go over tomorrow. I'll probably be dodging rain.
I had a picture of the whole back and part of the sides soaked. Apparently I deleted it.
