Picked up an old 8n recently for next to nothing. The guy suggested it probably needed a tank cleaning. It also had an inline fuel filter I wanted to remove and get back to proper fuel lines.
I got the hood off no problem, have tank drained, sediment bowl assembly apart etc.
A few questions though. Here's a few pictures inside of the tank. I expected it to be significantly grosser. This is my first go at something like this and while there's some parts that don't look great, it doesn't seem so bad. Is it bad or just minor? I was going to Use the POR15 kit on it, is that overkill and is there an easier/faster way?
Also, I know there's three filter screens. The one atop the sediment bowl is fine. The elbow to the carb I have a new one. The one atop the fuel valve system though I have no idea. It's clean on the outside, but when looking down it there appears to be some gunk/sediment. Can that be cleaned out? Does it need to be? How would one go about it?
