Who has these digging attachments and how well do they work? For digging holes to plant trees, or deck footers (I have 12” frost line) they seem like a great addition and cheaper than a stump bucket.

What are the pros and cons?

Have the Paumco quick spade combo.

Very handy to dig a quick hole or take out evasive brush. Can bend a light duty bucket. Prefer to use it on forks. Great for shearing small trees off at ground level near or under fence lines.

I have one that fits on my bucket or forks. I used it only once to dig out a rotted stump and it worked very well.

How big are your loaders? Like their pound rating

All that stuff will put a 'smile' on a light duty material bucket which is what usually comes on most tractors. They all make (tractor builders) Heavy duty excavation buckets with double bottoms but you have to ask for them when buying. When you put the smile in a light duty bucket, it's almost impossible to get out without cutting the side sheets from the bottom and then straightening out the bottom with force and then re-welding the side sheets back on. I've repaired more than one before. If you have a light duty bucket (single bottom sheet), I'd advise against doing it.

Your M5400 is the ideal weight to utilize a Bucket Spade.

You do realize you have the heavy duty round back double bottom bucket and not the square back light duty bucket I presume? I have both actually.

I actually got the light duty bucket as a gift. It had such a huge smile in it the owner went and ordered a new HD bucket. Had to cut the side sheets both off and then lever the bottom on a sawed off log with a ton of down pressure to get it straight again. Actually came out good and I'd never recommend any 'clamp on attachment, pallet forks, spade or even a clamp on ball hitch on a light duty bucket.

The issue is, once you put a smile in the bucket, it pulls the side sheets in and the only way to get the bottom straight again is to remove them from the equation. No matter how hard you try to straighten it, you cannot and a bucket with a smile in it is useless for about everything.

One nice thing about having a SSQA attachment on your loader is, you can fit any bucket, don't have to be a Kubota so long as the bucket has the mating SSQA plate. Both mine do. One is an ATI and the other is a Kubota and candidly I like the ATI better. It's much more robust and the locking arms are as well.

That’s exactly the big spade I need.

I’ll probably use it on forks but, Wouldn’t it be better to mount on one side of the bucket? Stronger near the side and easier to see??

Used quick spade on B20 and B26. 900-1200# lift. Higher curl strength. HD buckets. Fork option has worked well. After sharpening edge surprisingly easy to slice thru roots.
