The first service has just been done by my local dealer's field service guy. I thought I would pass on a couple of things that stood out - good and bad.

The service was done at 68 hours. I was in their yard (borrowing a pipe layer at no charge) at around 48 hours and asked when did I need to book the service. The sales guy said 100 hours was their standard, so don't worry yet. When I said that the book says 50 hours, he said that was overkill.
I took the chance to sneak around to the head mechanic and ask him. (An old school type of guy and has worked on tractors and farm machinery for ever). He agreed that 50 hours was what the book said but his experience was that 70 to 80 was not going to cause a problem. He said just call him direct whenever I wanted it done. In the end I got a bit nervous about leaving the first service for too long and called him. He came out the next day, which I thought was pretty good service.

The engine oil was not vey dark at all. I read an earlier thread about it being normal for diesel oil to be black, but this lot was no more than a mid brown. Certainly nothing like my cars oil after a 10,000 Km change.

The mechanic checked only the wheel nuts and not any other nuts. When I queried him about the FEL mounting bolts, he said that they had been Loctited by them and he knew they would be fine. I had already checked them at about 20 hours and got nothing so I checked again after he left and still no movement, so I hope they are right.

The one thing he did make a big point about was keeping the dust out of the radiator. The last few hours I had done were very dusty and he noted this while cleaning the air filter. He said he was a big fan of using air - not water - to clean the engine etc. but that the radiator must be washed out very thoroughly. He said to use a mild detergent and wash and re-wash and flush again and again to make sure that no mud remained on the radiator as this would cause overheating when it dries.

So after all this, I am a little unsure about the level of care from the dealer. They seem to be very experienced in tractors (not just Kioti) and the attitude seems to be - trust us, we know what we're doing. Hope they're right!

Sounds to me like your getting good service there. As for loctited bolts, if you ever do feel them snug up when you check them, you probably should reapply more of that stuff. Except for the wheel lugs I just visual and/or wrench-check 'em lightly, so not to break the locktite (blue) seal. Enjoy the new tractor!

Did they change the transmission fluid, HST filter, hydraulic filter, front axle oil?

I would want all the filters changed.

If they didn't change the filters mentioned above, it would be a good idea to get them done. And drain and change the front axle fluid too, to get rid of any particulate matter left from manufacturing/use, as suggested. Make sure to keep up with greasing the zerks regularly too.

No, he didn't change the transmission oil or filters. He checked the level and the oil on the dipstick and said they would not normally change those until the next service.

He talked about the front axle oil and how to change and refill it. He didn't look at it, but said that it was not uncommon for it to appear to have small brass (bronze?) particles in it first up and that this was not a problem. He again said that they didn't replace that until next time.

I would be confident doing the engine oil change as the procedure was no different from the car oil and filter changes I have done for years. I suppose my concern with changing the transmission oil and filters would be getting genuine filters and possibly losing any future warranty claims if I did it myself.

He showed me all the places to grease and could see that I had missed a couple underneath. I have been keeping up with the greasing - bought a Lock N Lube after reading the threads on TBN. (BTW, took me a while to work out what a "zerk" was, only ever heard them called a "grease nipple" here!):)

The warranty period is 2 years, parts and labour, and I suppose my thinking is to go with the dealer's recommendations at least during that period. Of course the problem could be that some sort of long term damage is done during that time.

If you want to follow what Kioti recommend, you need to make sure they do everything that is indicated at the 50 hour mark in your tractor manual, which includes engine, transmission & HST filter changes and engine, transmission & front axle oil fluid changes.
You should have more discussion with your dealer/service people if they feel it is best to postpone those maintenance items. It's your tractor and your decision but if it were my new tractor I would go by the book.

You do NOT need to do a transmission/HST fluid change at 50 or 100 hours. At 200 hours, you could do it if there are/were indications based on fluid color, etc. Or you could just change the filters again. For instance, some cars auto trans' don't have a dipstick to check their fluid, and the fluid NEVER gets changed, due to synthetic lubes. Your HST requires clean fluid, and periodic filter changes to remove microscopic particles caught in the filter's media.
You won't void your warranty by doing maintenance yourself. Get genuine Kioti filters from your dealer, mark down hours from hour meter, and keep receipts of purchased fluids/filters, etc.

And give yourself a break from worrying. You have a warranty to keep you worry free. I do recommend using a diesel synthetic oil, like Rotella, or Mobil 1.

If you have questions, ask here. Collective knowledge and experience is vast.

Thanks to every one for your comments and suggestions. That's why I have found TBN threads so helpfull.

I will go back to the dealer and push him on the filter changes. I'm sure he wouldn't object to me wanting to spend more money with him than he thinks is necessary

Note to prospective buyers: ....see if you can negotiate the complete 1st (50 hour) service when you purchase a new machine. The shop should throw that in with the purchase and eat the cost... if you can negotiate well at all.
