One week old ck3510se, 18.5 hours on it (mostly backhoe work at fairly low rpm's so far). The manual isn't crystal clear when it comes to the 2 different types of regen, and I've got a couple questions.

I believe I got the passive regen light on this afternoon. I kept rpm's up while the light was on, and it smelled pretty bad for 5-10mins, but I wasn't sure if I needed to push the regen button on the dash or not. I ended up pushing it, (the top of the button...not the bottom to cancel), and the light went off for a few seconds, then came back on, and continued smelling bad. After a few minutes it went off, and the smell stopped, leading me to believe it was a passive regen, and it completed.

I know there's a separate dash light (that looks very similar), to indicate a parked regen. The manual is pretty clear on the instructions for that....parking brake on, idle rpm's, neutral, and push the button for 2 secs.

I guess I'm just asking if that button needs to be pushed for passive regen, or if I'm supposed to just keep working until the light goes off.

Here's a bonus picture... (my brother just happened to borrow a vinyl cutter this week for something else)

Apologies, I should've searched first. There was a similar post from last month that kind of answers my question. Funny though, people in that thread said the same thing about the manual not being very clear about the 2 different types of regen.

It certainly isn’t very clear and the indicator light sucks! They look virtually the same between the “need to regen” and “regen In Progress” Light. But 18.5 is a little early for a regen try to keep your RPMs up a bit more and you should be getting 40 plus hour intervals.

Yeah, I figure it's because 14ish of those hours were backhoe work, and I only ran it around 2k rpm's for most of that. Most of my digging was on a bank that was too steep to be comfortable on, so I wanted the hoe moving slower, and not bouncing the tractor around much. Even then, I still bounced it around enough that the machine jumped a few inches down the hill more than once. Add in all the time idling at the dealer, loading and unloading, etc... and I'm hoping they'll be at longer intervals going forward.

I snap a pic of the dash when mine regens...the only way I can remember when they happened...and an easy way to keep a record!

Most of the time I keep my rpm’s high but at least 1,800. My first regen happened at 25 hrs the other day while doing backhoe work. I just kept working because I seen the light was the regen in process light and not the regen warning light. On my last ck3510 I always had to park it for the regen. It used to go into regen about every 30 hrs.

I have a CK3510 sehc. Currently have just over 60 hrs. On it and have only experienced one regeneration cycle, and it was a passive one at around 20 hrs.

Same here. That first one at 18.5hrs made me wonder, but at 60hrs now and haven't had another yet. I've kept the rpm's up higher, which seems to greatly extend the interval.

glad you guys are working out the intervals for me! i am a fish out of water when it comes to these regen cycles. i have about 12 hours on the machine so im starting to wonder about the regen.
